The equipment was allocated on a shared-use basis, with&nbsp;one Shea Roller serving five women, enabling cooperatives to maximize its impact while promoting collaboration and efficient resource management. 
 
The introduction of Shea Rollers represents an important step toward improving working conditions for women producers. By making key processing stages more efficient, the equipment helps reduce physical labor, increase productivity, and enhance the quality of shea products.

West Africa remains the world&#39;s primary source of shea nuts, a key raw material widely used in the cosmetics and food industries. National industrialization policies adopted by several countries across the region are already beginning to reshape global market dynamics. 
 
International purchases of shea butter reached 27,951 tonnes in the first quarter of 2026, representing an increase of nearly 27% compared to the same period a year earlier (22,046 tonnes). This was reported by the independent trade advisory service N&#39;kal&ocirc; in its market bulletin published on June 5, citing customs data. 
 
With this growth, global shea butter purchases reached their highest first-quarter level in five years. At the same time, exports of shea nuts&mdash;the raw material in its unprocessed form&mdash;have moved in the opposite direction. According to the report, 84,705 tonnes of shea nuts were purchased on international markets during the first quarter of 2026, marking a 25% year-on-year decline and the lowest first-quarter volume recorded since 2024.

West African Industrialization Policies at the Core of the Shift</h2>

N&#39;kal&ocirc; attributes this contrasting trend to evolving public policies in the region&#39;s leading shea-producing countries. Since 2024, several governments have introduced restrictions on shea nut exports, aiming to capture more value domestically by developing local processing industries. 
 
Following Mali&#39;s export ban in October 2024, C&ocirc;te d&#39;Ivoire and Togo also suspended shea nut exports in January and April 2025, respectively. Nigeria, the world&#39;s largest producer, joined the movement in August 2025. 
 
Burkina Faso, which had suspended shea nut exports in 2024, lifted the ban in May 2026 under strict conditions. Exporters are now required to obtain special authorization and allocate at least 25% of their volumes to local processors. In addition, a tax of 200 CFA francs per kilogram exported has been introduced. 
 
Ghana, meanwhile, is gradually tightening restrictions and is reportedly considering a complete export ban by 2026. 
 
This combination of export restrictions, regulatory adjustments, and industrial development strategies is driving a significant reconfiguration of global supply chains.

Ghana appears to be moving toward a full ban before the end of 2026, although no official legislation has yet been adopted. Burkina Faso&#39;s partial reopening, which confirms the existence of available stocks, will be closely monitored by international buyers, as will developments in Nigeria and Ghana, where restrictions continue to weigh on regional trade flows. Our Director, Mrs. Kancou Keita Ciss&eacute;, participated in the 7th edition of the Forum of Tomorrow&rsquo;s Accountants, held on January 14&ndash;15, 2026, in Bamako, which focused on financial cybersecurity, an increasingly critical issue for the accounting profession. 
 
The event brought together experts, decision-makers, and professionals to engage in in-depth discussions on governance, risk management, and the protection of financial information in a rapidly evolving digital environment. 
 
Mrs. Kancou Keita Ciss&eacute; emphasized: 
 
&ldquo;Cybersecurity is no longer merely a technical issue; it has become a cornerstone of trust in financial governance and a strategic lever for economic development.&rdquo; 
 
Her participation underscores our organization&rsquo;s commitment to strengthening professional skills, anticipating digital risks, and promoting best practices within the accounting field.

Our Director Participates in the 7th Forum of Tomorrow’s Accountants

This initiative is part of the CNPM&rsquo;s ongoing efforts to listen to and support national companies that add value to local resources. 
 
Welcomed by the Managing Director, Mrs. Kancou KE&Iuml;TA CISS&Eacute;, the delegation attended a presentation on the company&rsquo;s activities. Established in 2019, Mali Shi has become a key player in the sector, contributing to local processing, job creation, and the structuring of the shea value chain. 
 
The company employs 120 staff members and works with more than 12,000 women collectors. During the most recent campaign, 7,000 tons of shea butter were exported, mainly to Malaysia. 
 
However, Mali Shi is currently facing several challenges:

<ul>
	<li>Fuel shortages, which hinder worker mobility and the transport of raw materials;</li>
	<li>Suspension of shea nut exports, with some illegal exports occurring despite the ban;</li>
	<li>A shortage of trucks to transport finished products, which could overfill storage tanks by November 10.</li>
</ul>

 
The delegation took note of these concerns and indicated that discussions are underway with the authorities to address the fuel shortage affecting all sectors. 
 
President BALLY praised the resilience and performance of the Mali Shi team, reaffirming the CNPM&rsquo;s commitment to support national enterprises and strengthen public-private dialogue. 
 
The Mali Shi team, for its part, expressed its gratitude to the CNPM for this show of support, especially during a time of crisis.

This initiative is part of the CNPM’s ongoing efforts to listen to and support national companies that add value to local resources.

Mrs. Kancou Keita Ciss&eacute;, CEO of Mali Shi, recently visited the Shared Agricultural Zone (ZAP), an initiative primarily funded by the European Union. The project aims to train young people in modern and sustainable farming techniques, strengthening their economic independence and promoting inclusive rural development. 
 
During her visit, Mrs. Ciss&eacute; served as a mentor to the young beneficiaries of the program, sharing her inspiring journey and her experience as the head of Mali Shi, the first industrial company in Mali specializing in shea nut processing. 
 
With a network of more than 12,000 women collectors organized into cooperatives and a production capacity of 25,000 tons per year, Mali Shi stands today as a model of innovation, social impact, and local value creation in Africa. 
 
Mrs. Ciss&eacute; embodies strong female leadership, representing perseverance, vision, and commitment to the economic empowerment of women and youth. Her involvement in mentorship and the promotion of sustainable entrepreneurship perfectly illustrates the synergy between the private sector and development initiatives. 
 
This visit to the ZAP reflects Mali Shi&rsquo;s determination to support the new generation of Malian farmers, by sharing not only industrial know-how but also values of excellence, inclusion, and sustainability.

The CEO of Mali Shi Visits the Shared Agricultural Zone: A Model of Mentorship and Female Leadership

Under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Daniel Sim&eacute;on Kelema, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Alouseni Sanou, an official ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, to sign a partnership agreement between Malishi, represented by its Director General, Mrs. Kancou Keita Ciss&eacute;, and the Interprofessional Body of the Shea Sector in Mali. 
 
This agreement marks a significant step forward in the structuring, promotion, and development of the shea value chain, contributing to sustainable economic growth and creating new opportunities for local stakeholders.
